The Plays

The New World Order

Des and Lionel stand over a blindfolded captive, revelling in their authority and the fear they instil. Through their cruel banter and casual discussion of torture, Pinter exposes the banality of evil and the ways in which dehumanisation becomes normalised in oppressive regimes.

Mountain Language

Set in a totalitarian state, Mountain Language explores the cruelty inflicted on a minority group whose native tongue has been banned. The prisoners and their families are forbidden from speaking their “mountain language,” a poignant symbol of their identity and heritage.

Precisely

Two men, Stephen and Roger, civil servants, argue about the exact number of a figure, whether 20 million or more. It becomes clear that they are talking about body counts.

The Actors

Zoe Aldrich, Alice Blundell, Naveed Khan, Brian McGovern, Tom Pullen and Oliver Senton.
